Hi All,
I just read where someone posted the availability of an e-mail Bible Study and thought it might be good for us to do one of our own right here on the zone. The way it will work (if you are all interested) is that i'll give you something you can look up in your Bibles or if you already know it can think about and post comments on. then we'll take it from there. Maybe someone else will have some things for us to look up and think about too.

for now, Jesus gave us specific instruction in Matthew Chapter 6 on prayer. Can you think of just one of these instructions? If so, post it here and give your own comments. Looking forward to hearing from you. Donna

Hi donna!
Well, one of the things that Jesus says about prayer is taht we shouldn't pray just for the sake of receiving applause from men. Through Christ, we've been given this awesome privilege to talk to God the Father, and it's a relationship, not some legalistic show of ritual and religious acts.
Furthermore, Jesus doens't want our prayers to be formulatedand concocted because the pagans don't ahve a rleationshisp with their god, they feel the nee to endlessly utter pre-prepared prayers in hopes that after enough incantations they'll hear and answer.
The references are in Matthew 6:5-8.
Keep the Bible study going!

I like the idea. I can't remember on what else Jesus says in Mathew chapter 6.

Great idea. I was just reading on this the other day. So here goes.

Be careful when you are tryign to be good not to make a performance out of it. other people might like it, but God wont' be applauding. When you do something good for someone else, don't call attention to yourself. Like people only do good things for people when they know someone is watching so they can get all the credit and thanks. When you help someone out, don't think about how it looks. Just do it quietly.

Find a quiet place so that you won't be tempted to make it look good and pray let the focus shift from you to God. Don't try to get what you want out of God. It won't work. God knows better than you what you need. All you need is a simple prayer.

Our father who is in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debters. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.

Which basically means, father in heaven, reveal who you are. Set the world right. Do what's best down here on earth just like you do in heaven. Keep us alive with 3 square meals. Keep us forgiven with you and let us forgive others. If we can't forgive others than how can we expect you to forgive us? Keep us safe from ourselves and from the devil. You father are in charge, you can do anything you want. I'm leaving every single thing in your hands.

This is a great idea. *smiles*
